The Member for Melton, Don Nardella MLA, has secured long awaited funding for the Melton rail line duplication.

In yesterday’s budget Melton was a big winner with $518m being set aside for the duplication to Deer Park West and other related infrastructure projects.

$2.24m  will also be spent on an additional 270 parking bays at the Melton Station car park.

Extra rail platforms will also be provided at Bacchus Marsh and Ballan Stations.

Funding will also be provided for planning business case study for the line’s electrification.

Mr Nardella said:

I am delighted that funds have finally been made available for this important community transport infra structure project.

The improvements to the Melton line will be of enormous social and economic benefit to our rapidly growing communities in the outer West.
