Melton & Moorabool dance to the beat of Cultural Diversity Week

Following its success over the last 13 years, Cultural Diversity Week is returning bigger and better than ever.

This year Victoria’s leading multicultural celebration runs from March 12 – 20, 2016 to coincide with the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on March 21.

Coordinated by the Victorian Multicultural Commission, Cultural Diversity Week celebrates the colourful sounds, sights, movements and taste, which contribute to Victoria’s rich and ever-diversifying community.

Victoria’s community is made up of more than 260 languages and 135 religions, with almost half of Victorian residents born overseas or having at least one parent born overseas.

Don Nardella MLA said Cultural Diversity Week is a time to not only acknowledge but celebrate our local diversity and cultural heritage.

‘Together we stand in Harmony’ is the overarching theme for this year’s celebration.

In Melton & Moorabool diversity is one of their greatest strengths. This is a great opportunity to come together to share and celebrate the many cultures that form our proud multicultural fabric.

I encourage locals from all walks of life to unite and make the most of the wonderful activities and celebrations on show during this year’s Cultural Diversity Week.
