Guides & Melton South Community receive community safety grants

Community safety is set to be improved after the Andrews Labor Government provided $1,400 for the local Melton Girl Guides and $10,000 to the Linking Melton South programme.

Both programmes are designed to reduce local crime.

Member for Melton, Don Nardella MP today congratulated both groups on receiving the funding.

Local crime is set to be reduced and community safety to be improved after the Andrews Labor Government provided funds for a number of local organisations to fund their new projects.

The Labor Government’s Community Safety Fund is providing more than $800,000 across Victoria to reduce local crime and improve community safety through over 100 practical and innovative projects.

The Fund is part of the Andrews Government’s $5.8 million investment in community crime prevention, aimed at tackling crime and its root causes.

Mr Nardella said:

Local organisations know best when it comes to their community and preventing crime. I’m glad that the Government is supporting them.

Crime prevention needs to involve communities to be effective. This Government is providing the opportunity for locals to tackle crime in their neighbourhood.
