Liberals shun the western suburbs – Nardella

After four long years of doing nothing, the Liberals are shamelessly trying to stop the construction of the Western Distributor – a desperately needed second river crossing.

Residents in the West have been calling for an alternative to the West Gate Bridge for decades and it’s taken the Andrews Labor Government to do something about it.

The Labor Government is getting done, with contracts set to be signed and work set to begin by the end of this year.

Now, in a last ditch effort the Liberals are trying to stand in the way – all for shameless political point scoring.

The Western Distributor is the project Victoria needs. It will end our reliance on the West Gate Bridge, slash congestion and create 5,600 jobs.

The Labor Government is calling on Matthew Guy and the Liberals to support this project that will cut 20 minutes travel time from the West – getting people home safer and sooner.

Member for Melton, Don Nardella MLA said:

“While the Liberals failed to even begin one single major road project we are getting on with building the Western Distributor – ending Victoria’s reliance on the West Gate Bridge.”

“This project will slash traffic congestion from the western suburbs to the city and create thousands of jobs.”

“This is the project Victoria needs and only the Andrews Labor Government will get it done.”
