Family violence victims will be at the heart of the Government’s implementation of the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Family Violence.
Melton MP, Don Nardella MLA has today welcomed the report and vowed to be a strong advocate for victims and survivors.
Mr Nardella said the The Andrews Labor Government would implement all the recommendations of the Royal Commission and put victims at the heart of the reform.
The report was tabled on Wednesday in Parliament and released to the public.
The Government will work with victims and survivors, and with the people who help them, to build a better system that will help prevent family violence, keep people safe and hold perpetrators accountable.
This includes the Victim-Survivors Advisory Council, chaired by Rosie Batty, to ensure the Government makes the reforms that victims have been asking for.
The Royal Commission’s report will be shortly available and accessible through www.rcfv.com.au.
Mr Nardella said:
My work begins now to help the Government repair our broken family violence system for the people of Melton & Moorabool.
We need lasting generation reform that will give victims and survivors the help they need. We will not ignore them any longer.
